Our chalk beastie…

Whichever way you fancy doing it, you’ll discover endless ways to connect with our truly wondrous landscape. One way is to visit the Devizes Millenium White Horse which is cut into the the downland close to town.

What’s unique about our Millenium White Horse

Carved into the chalk downs at the edge of town, it faces in the opposite direction to all the others in Wiltshire.

The White Horse Trail

This is a circular, waymarked route running for 91 miles through Wiltshire.

You can use Devizes as the starting point to take in a wealth of sites, not just white horses. Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill and the Lansdowne Monument at the Cherhill White Horse are all on the route.

The way also runs by the Hackpen Hill White Horse (also known as the Broad Hinton White Horse) which it was created to commemorate the coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838.
